Employees of Ingredion’s Shandong facility provided support through donations and fundraising to those affected by a 6.2-magnitude earthquake in the country’s Gansu province in December 2023. The quake, which caused at least 111 deaths and injured an additional 200 people, devastated local infrastructure and sent temperatures plunging to arctic temperatures of 6° Fahrenheit (-14° Celsius).  

Putting our Company values into action, the Ingredion team organized a fundraiser, focusing on gathering essential warm clothing and bedding to aid the victims in braving the extreme cold. Their collective efforts culminated in the delivery of multiple boxes of warm clothing and bedding to the earthquake-stricken areas, providing much-needed relief to those affected by the disaster. 

Gary Zhang, Shandong plant manager, highlighted the importance of this endeavor, saying, "Our employees' donation initiative exemplifies the value of 'care first.' We are committed to closely monitoring the situation and continuing our support for the affected areas." 

The success of this initiative has been bolstered by enthusiastic support from various quarters, including local government officials, the plant's leadership, and all its employees. This concerted effort underscores the company's strong community spirit and commitment to social responsibility.
