For the past nine years, employees at Ingredion’s Indianapolis locations have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity’s Agriculture Build to help construct new homes for disadvantaged families. This year, the Ingredion team helped build two new homes at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Once completed, the houses were moved in their entirety to their new neighborhoods.

“It’s really important to continue to support initiatives like this,” said Mark Macrander, director, specialty grain and plant science. “The build provides a unique opportunity for our agricultural colleagues to work together, have fun and make a huge impact in the community. We directly enhance the lives of the new homeowners and their families and that’s priceless.”

Before helping construct their new home, the new owners complete more than 300 hours of education, including financial courses and home maintenance programs. 

Ingredion’s Specialty Grains and Plant Science group sponsored the event, and a team of employees from the Indianapolis manufacturing plant and Indianapolis North offices contributed their time and energy toward the initiative. This year’s volunteers included Jessie Browne, Brian Dick, Cameron Gill, Scott Johnson, Randy Klinger, Sherry LaMorticella, Ian Manning, Mina Mazdai, Mike McFeron, Ray Miller, Sara Pleasant, Wendell Rich, Derek Tigges, Randy Ward and Paul Werner.
