Janet Carver Recognized with 2021 Women Worth Watching in STEM Award

Profiles in Diversity Journal Women Worth Watching in STEM 2021 awardBridgewater, NJ – Janet Carver, Ingredion’s director of global culinology, has been named one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 2021 Women Worth Watching® in STEM award recipients.

The award recognizes women for their contributions, leadership, mentoring, and achievements in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). Candidates are nominated by a leader or colleague from their organization. This year, 28 women from 19 companies comprised the third class of honorees.

“Janet is an outstanding leader who is instrumental in helping to pave the way for the next generation by creating connections between the food and beverage industry and the STEM community,” said Greg Aloi, vice president of customer co-creation and innovation. “Janet’s leadership and customer-focused mindset were essential to our team as we leveraged new forms of digital collaboration to connect, innovate and co-create with our customers during the pandemic.”

Janet began her career in the U.S. Army Reserve as a medical technologist before joining Ingredion in 1990, where she has worked in both the R&D and technical service areas. In her current role, Janet is responsible for the culinology team’s strategy and working globally to build new capabilities while also managing global projects and partnerships. 

“Janet leads by example, whether it’s community outreach, mentorship, or industry leadership. She generously shares her experience and thought leadership to develop and nurture dozens of women who have followed in her footsteps,” said Aloi.

Janet is an industry board member of The Hatchery, a food business incubator in Chicago that enables entrepreneurs to build and grow food and beverage businesses and provides job training and placement programs, creating sustainable economic growth and new job opportunities. “I am inspired to serve in this role and share my experiences with others,” said Carver. “Taking the time to mentor, develop and create an environment which inspires women to thrive, grow and succeed is rewarding to me.”
